Cardiff BSAC Tidal CurvesTidal Ranges increase and decrease twice every 28 days, as the moon waxes and wanes.
These graphs are provided as an aid to dive planning. It is the responsibility of the dive manager to obtain correct tide and weather information for any site you wish to dive. When planning dives in areas with strong currents, selecting dates with a small tidal range, known as a Neap Tide, is advantageous. The reduced water flow during these periods generally improves visibility and extends the duration of "Slack Water" (the period of minimal current). For consistency across the accompanying graphs, certain dates in each month are repeated, and weekend dates are highlighted in yellow. More information about these graphs, or how they can be used for anywhere in Western Europe, can be found on our additional information page. |
