Scuba diving in South Wales with Cardiff BSAC
Have you ever wanted to go diving and swim amongst the fascinating and varied marine life that inhabits the underwater world?

Would you like to join other local divers on an exploration of the ship wrecks that have come to rest on the sea bed around the UK coast line?

Do you perhaps see your self as a modern day Jacques Cousteau?

Well why not turn your dream into reality by joining Cardiff BSAC, and taking up scuba diving.

At Cardiff BSAC we‘ve been training divers for over 42 years, and are able to offer scuba diving courses for all levels of experience, including complete beginners, experienced divers seeking a more advanced dive rating, and divers crossing over from other training agencies, such as PADI.

If you‘re interested in taking up Scuba Diving, and live in the Cardiff or South Glamorgan areas of Wales, why not contact us about taking a "try dive" in our local pool.

The worse that can happen is that you‘ll become hooked, and decide to join Cardiff BSAC and learn to Scuba Dive with Cardiff‘s premiere branch of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC).

So take the plunge and dive into this scuba diving web site

Pool News Pool as ever, thence to The SandMartin. Please remember, if you need kit (or have asked for kit but cant make pool) to let me or Steve know Cossie news We had a break from the salt stuff this weekend, and washed all the kit off in Cossie. Its green, the weed is growing like mad, but there is a lot of fish life, including shoals of tiny stuff, rudd and the carp making their appearance. From down below to up above. Having braved the depths of Cosmeston, Steve took to the skies yesterday in a light aircraft, with me cowering in the back taking pictures! Fun to see Cossie from the skies! I need to check dates, but the last 2 weeks of August will mean we are pool free, so intending a Cossie and a Curry night, once I’ve checked the dates I will let you know! Pool News Pool as ever, thence to The SandMartin. Please remember , if you need kit (or have asked for kit but cant make pool) to let me or Steve know Dive news I’m not sure I can do justice to this weekend in write up, you may just have to tune into Mark and Matt’s footage on Facebook Saturday saw just Me Steve and Kaz filling up the boat for Brian Dilly. He’d chartered a boat “Blue Thunder”, which was “compact and bijou” if I’m being kind. Bit bloody small if I’m honest. Never mind, everyone on board was friendly, so we steamed off into the Haven. My post breakfast nap was rudely interrupted by the skipper’s command “get all the kit of the (central) bench”. Turned out the engine had overheated and the access was via the kit stand! Luckily Alex Dilly was close enough to pop over in a rib, to stop us drifting into the main shipping channel. Some 20 minutes later however, all was put to rights, and we set off for The Lucy/Rye Rocks which was wrapped in fog when we arrived. Undeterred we jumped in for the splash and dash which is standard on a Lucy dive on air.It was also a little dark as the sun hadn’t yet burnt off the mist! Second dive was a very pleasant bimble on North Wall, including some nice Crayfish peeking out of an overhang. Sunday and a slight change in clientele, and an earlier start, as Brian had listened to the whispers and had promised us a trip to The Smalls. My day didn’t start well, when it turned out my twin 7’s had the same amount of air in that they went in with the night before! Thanks Dave! Brian to the rescue as ever with the lend of a 15l. We bimbled out via Dale (“The fuel guage isn’t working, so we’re taking some spare fuel just in case”, boded well). It’s a long trek out there, enough for a lot of sun! Finally we arrived, kitted up quickly – its just too hot in those suits! The seals were waiting……..Mark and Matt have some great footage – Steve is yet to download, and I have the odd blurry glimpse of a sleek grey shape. The Smalls did not disappoint. There were walls of dead men’s fingers (oddly appropriate given The Smalls most famous tale). Lots of life of all sorts including the playful seals. We did have one old boy watching the fantastic three trying to catch a lobster. Kaz managed to hook the beast out, I missed it as it whizzed in front of me. Steve didn’t notice when it landed in front of him, Kaz missed it on first swoop, and finally caught up with crustacean in front of this seal. The seals face was pretty much “WTF”. With the currents picking up, we retreated (much to Emily’s delight) to that aromatic lump of rock, Grassholm for a final bimble. So many crabs of all shapes and sizes – and Matt and Emily got the seals again. I wouldn’t make a rush back to use this boat again (not sure that Brian would either), and The Smalls is definitely better on a Saturday when you have the Sunday to recover – it was pretty much 11 hours from start to finish – but I wouldn’t have missed a minute of it! Lessons Learned Turn on your air before getting in the water – buddy check might have helped, Mr DO! Plymouth and Weymouth Both trips now full!
