Halloween Dawn Dive

Well I’ve had a few takers for one of my dafter ideas – anyone else interested??

Quarry diving!!

Russell sent the following pics from the foray to Quarry the weekend before last, where depth experience was extended to around 45 metres for a couple of the group.

This weekend was Ocean diver training again for Vida and Natalie, also at Chepstow. Natalie tried to cope with a poorly fitting suit for her first open water dive, but the attempt was aborted soon after hitting the water, before hypothermia set in.

After enquiring at the shop we found a huge selection of scuba equipment was available to hire. A perfectly fitting suit was soon found and we quickly returned to the water for another attempt.

This time we were able to cover all the training exercises watched closely by one of the large resident pike. With visibility around 8 metres, we also saw a number of schools of Rudd and another 2 pike hanging around together under the pontoon.

Natalie's suit kept her warm for both of her dives, which proves how good a correctly fitting suit can be.

Dave’s report from Scotland

Hi Everyone

Surface Supply is finally here, Today was the first day, trying out the Kirby Morgan Helmets and bandmasks. It’s great; everything is controlled by the surface team. Today we were setting up dive panels, helmets and umbilicals, also some general kit maintenance, taking them apart and stuff.

Last week was out first time on MV Sleat, the boat the academy use.

We did two dives on there last week, the first we were lowered into the water in a cage by crane, and the second we did simulated drills for surface decompression, where you miss all decompression and get back in the chamber within five minutes from leaving your first in water stop. The time is ticking away.

All is good in sunny Dunoon and the team is great!

I have made the first video of the course and it’s on Facebook. I will be putting it on Youtube, but not ‘til I leave, they don’t like it!
